Jan de Rijk App
UX/UI project focused on Digital Transformation of Operational Workflows
Intro
Jan de Rijk is a leading Aerospace Engine Carrier operating across the UK and Europe, specializing in the transportation of high-value aerospace components.
These movements usually require planned routes, road permits and customs documentation to ensure compliance with client requirements and legal frameworks.

The Problem
Jan de Rijk’s drivers must complete detailed paper and photo documentation during loading and unloading, often in challenging conditions such as wet, cold, or dark environments. This manual process is time-consuming, error-prone, and affects efficiency.
Office staff must also process and verify this documentation quickly to ensure compliance and workflow continuity. A streamlined, legally compliant solution is needed to improve accuracy, efficiency, and make the process easier for everyone.

Solution
I see an exciting future opportunity at Jan de Rijk to develop a driver-focused app that will streamline loading checklist completion—even under varying conditions—and will eliminate the need for office staff to act as intermediaries by automating the distribution of completed checklists and accompanying photos directly to customers.
Furthermore, in cases of potential load damage or prosecution, the app’s digitally signed checklists and photo documentation will provide clear, authoritative records that safeguard both the company and its drivers.

MAJOR LEARNINGS POINTS FROM USER TESTING
“Change Yes & No answers to something else , add picture feature should be in each question”
“Questions need more detail about what they are asking and pictures , like a pop up information icon”
“Look at mock theory test for layout ideas and how icons communicate what they are asking”
“Delete some questions that repeat or reword them”
“Add graphics to make the questions less daunting”
